Online counselling for the Armed Forces community

Private, independent online counselling for serving personnel, veterans, reservists and Armed Forces families across the UK.

A space with an understanding of military life

I haven’t served myself, and I wouldn’t claim to understand Service life from the inside. My understanding comes from being part of a military family, including personal experience of military bereavement, and from a long-standing connection to the Armed Forces community.

That lived understanding sits alongside my professional counselling experience and continued learning around the needs of serving personnel, veterans and families.

It doesn’t mean I’ll assume I know what your experience has been. Military life looks different for everyone. But it does mean you shouldn’t have to spend half the session explaining the context before you can begin talking about what is actually happening for you.

You don’t need to have a ‘military problem’ to come to counselling here. You might be struggling with anxiety, low mood, grief, stress, relationships, or feeling like you’ve been holding it together for too long. Your connection to the Armed Forces may only be one part of the picture - but it can be an important part.

Who I work with

I offer online counselling to adults across the Armed Forces community, including:

  • Serving personnel and reservists

  • Veterans and those adjusting to life after Service

  • Spouses and partners

  • Parents, adult children and siblings

  • Military and veteran families

  • Bereaved members of the Armed Forces Community

You might be looking for support with deployments or separation, relationships or family life, anxiety, stress or low mood, leaving the military and adjusting to civilian life, grief and bereavement, or something that has nothing to do directly with the Armed Forces at all.

Whatever has brought you here, counselling gives you a space to talk about what is happening for you, without you having to fit your experience into a certain box.

You do not need to have a connection to the Armed Forces to work with me. The Daring Space welcomes adults from all backgrounds; this page simply reflects an area of particular interest and understanding within my counselling practice.

Private and independent counselling

The Daring Space is a private, independent counselling practice. It isn’t part of the Ministry of Defence, your chain of command, Defence Medical Services or a military welfare service.

If you are serving, you may understandably have questions about who will know you’re accessing counselling or whether what you say could be shared. Your counselling with me is confidential, within the same ethical, safeguarding and legal limits that apply to all of my clients. I will not inform the MOD, your chain of command or military welfare services imply because you have chosen to access counselling with me.

For some people, having somewhere completely separate from their military or working environment can make it easier to speak openly - without needing to think about rank, role or the expectations that come with military life.

Proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant

The Daring Space Counselling signed the Armed Forces Covenant in July 2026.

For me, this is more than something to display on a website. It reflects a commitment to recognising the realities that can come with military life, and to offering serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and families a counselling space where they are treated with understanding, fairness and respect.

My connection to the Armed Forces is personal, and signing the Covenant felt like a natural extension of what The Daring Space already stands for - understanding the wider context people bring with them, making space for experiences that can sometimes overlooked, and never assuming that one persons experience will be the same as another’s.

Whatever your connection with the Armed Forces, you are welcome here as a person first.

Online Counselling across the UK

Sessions take place online, so you can access counselling from a private space wherever you are based in the UK. This can also offer continuity if your circumstances change, no need to start counselling again with someone new.
